Oh man! Have you heard? Byron Jones is making waves in the NFL as a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys! I can’t believe how he’s blossomed since college. Like, you know when he was at UCONN, he was a star, but there were lots of questions about how he’d transition to pro football. But he answered them. Heart and soul.
Just look at how consistent he’s been during each of his seasons. In 2016, the Cowboys moved him from safety to cornerback and he flourished. He really hit the ground running and his stats lit up. Same story in 2017. He had more interceptions and his overall competency was recorded at a level of 90.4. Then in 2018 and 2019 he was a shutdown corner and continued to make All-Pro teams. I mean, my dude was becoming elite every single year!
Byron’s cool, calm, and composed approach to the game and the field has been remarkable. And what’s even more impressive is how he maintains his composure with the kind of insane ‘no-look backpedals’ – kind of like a blind pirouette. I mean, it takes some serious concentration and composure to complete those movements!
Off the field, he’s the kind of guy who loves to establish healthy relationships with players, coaches, and even rival teams. He’s always striving to be at the top of his game (in and off the field) and he does this with a scope and passion that might make some of us envious.
Let’s face it, Byron Jones is a passionate and committed team player. He’s got a quiet determination and a level of determination that sets him apart from the crowd. But perhaps the most impressive thing about him is how he’s willing to share his skills and knowledge with others. You know, when he talks about improving his game and helping his teammates do the same, he’s actually talking about helping the whole team.
It’s like he actually uses his experiences to teach the guys around him, and they benefit from that in the long run. I mean, he can really bring it back home to the rest of the team, and that’s something that not all players can do. Sometimes he does it with a tough love approach, other times with gentle guidance.
But no matter which way he does it, you can see the respect he has for the team itself, and how he puts in the effort to make sure the team succeeds. That kind of dedication and character is what makes a champion athlete, not just an athlete.
I’d love to see him play in the Super Bowl. It would be a major boost to him and his team, plus everybody loves a winner! Although it’s only a dream right now, I’ll never stop believing that if Byron Jones keeps stretching himself from his comfort zone, the Dallas Cowboys have a serious chance of taking the trophy.
I’m curious to know how Byron Jones is starting off 2021 and if he will be able to keep his excellent consistency going. Who knows, he might even surprise us and become one of the first cornerbacks to score a touchdown. He’s one of my favorite players to watch, he’s always full of energy and agressive when the stakes are high.
Did you know that Byron starred in the 2016 Pro Bowl? He recorded four tackles even though there were some big stars at the game. His performance in the Pro Bowl made a statement about his presence and ability on the field.
That winds up the impressive career of Byron Jones in the NFL and I’m sure glad I followed him on his journey from UCONN to the Cowboys. He’s a special type of guy, with an exceptional blend of physical talent and a drive to excel in any situation.
The teams in the NFL have noticed and taken action. That’s the reason why Byron Jones signed such an impressive contract in 2020 after his last free agency. He sure did win big that time.
I’m sure the 2021 season is gonna be exciting with Byron Jones on the team. I’m especially looking forward to seeing him squaring off against some of the most famous cornerbacks in the league. He’s surely in a class of his own but I’m excited to see if he can prove he can face the best in the game.
I’ve heard a lot of rumors that he can even move to the Safety position if he continues to improve his agility and pass-coverage skills, giving him even more options to take against some of the league’s most explosive players.
Byron Jones rocks, and I’m sure hoping that the Cowboys and we, the fans, have tons of wins to celebrate this upcoming season. With him leading the defense, and Dak leading the offense, I’m really coupled of what the team will bring us!
